Year end blog

During this whole year there were many learning experiences that range from cooking all the way too building a hydroponics system. In the beginning of the year I thought those tasks were impossible however towards the end I realized that they were both possible and fun. This blog is to reflect upon all the fun tasks that we have accomplished through the year.

My most favorite and memorable memory of this year would have to be the final cook off. I loved this event so much because of everything that we had worked for to accomplish our ultimate goal. I am glad of how this turned out and I am glad that we were able to win second place in the event. During the event I thought of everything that led up to it and it couldn't have turned out any better. I am glad it ended the way it did. It took a lot of practice to do.

Another thing that happened during this year that I enjoyed was building our system because that was the first time that we came together as a team and worked really hard and were able to build our system. I think that we came together during the building of the system because we all worked well together and we worked incredibly hard. We were able to finish our tower system fast compared to other groups because we were the second group to finish.

I also liked to work on the plant table because the plant table was the first time my group worked truly as a group and we all did a part. I also liked this because I love to build and it was incredible fun building all the components of the plant table. I am glad that I was able to build it. I also liked painting it with my group.

Those were my favorite three things that I did.

During this whole year we paid many visits to KCC and we had too cook many dishes ranging from roasted vegetables to parmesan chicken and all the way to cous Cous. We learned how to cook a variety of different plates and I enjoyed cooking and learning all the different cuisines and protecting my polenta with pan seared chicken and roasted vegetables. I am sad that we have to now leave KCC and cook at home. I enjoyed all the time we spent cooking there

One of the 5 concepts that I believe I improved upon was collaboration. I think I improved in collaboration because in the beginning of the year we were just cooking on our own and in the end we were all cooking together. I am glad that we were all able to come together like that. I believe that I improved in this concept because I was the one who began asking and yelling out progress checks. I improved in collaboration because I learned how to talk to my class mates and tell them what they had to do and how they should do it.

The second of the 5 concepts that I improved upon included imagination because in the beginning of the year the plating of our plates was horrible we just had polenta on the side roses vegetables on top and the chicken was surrounding the plate going all the way around the plate. This was a horrible plate and I had to use my imagination to make it better so I stacked the food with the polenta in a round circle on the bottom.

The third concept I learned about was critical problem solving. I had to learn this concept because this concept was needed for example if we forgot something or burned something that we needed we had to problem solve.

While we were cooking our dish at Kapiolani community collage cooking facilities we worked really well together and we were able to finish our dish a bit earlier than other groups. As we were working we cooperated with each other through every step of the process and I believe that this is what made us such a good team.

Animation answers

How is Orwell’s Animal Farm an allegorical retelling of the end of feudalism and the rise and consolidation of communism in Russia? The humans are basically the communist party during the Russian Revolution and the fall of Mr. Jones represents the fall of important leaders in the communist parties.

How does Orwell parallel Czarist Russia and the life of the Russian peasantry in the characters and events of Animal Farm? The farmers starve the animals and it's kind of like the government putting food rations on the people or peasants.

What internal feud within the Communist party is paralleled in the struggle for power between Napoleon and Snowball? Napoleon represents Stalin and Snowball represents Trotsky because Napoleon wanted stricter rules on everyone.

During the Stalinist period the Communist State repeatedly set industrial and agricultural production goals that were often difficult or impossible to reach. These goals played a major role in the government’s Five Year Plan and similar plans. How are these plans represented in Orwell’s novella? These plans are represented by the building of the windmill and the constant failure to build the windmill.

How does Napoleon gradually begin to abuse his power? Why do the other animals of Manor Farm allow him to encroach upon their rights and freedoms? Napoleon begins to abuse his power by taking food from the animals and using it for himself and his close allies. Napoleon also created an army of dogs that would protect him and defend those who go against him. He started to rewrite the commandments.

How does Napoleon respond to criticism or resistance? Is there a parallel to his behavior in the history of Soviet Union? Napoleons behavior is parallel to Stalin because he wanted everything to go his way. Napoleon responded to criticism by intimidating and used the dogs to kill the sheep.

In the last paragraphs of the novella Napoleon, amongst the other human farmers, is heard to give a toast to the prosperity of Manor Farm. Contained within this scene is the irony that makes Napoleon’s behavior so ghastly. Describe the irony inherent in Napoleon’s behavior, and explain how it corresponds to the behavior of the party elite in the Soviet Union. The irony in napoleons behavior is ghastly because he said he would never partner with humans and was seen shaking hands and talking with the humans.
