Current CEC

During today's class we focused and worked on circuits. I learned just how complicated it is to build circuits and how hard it was to build a circuit and find out what did and didn't work. There were some fastest of building circuits I didn't understand because I couldn't see the electricity flowing. It was difficult to build a complete circuit when one part wasn't working because we had to go through all the individual components and change them to see what's wasn't working. In the beginning we had 2 wires that weren't working and it was really hard to diagnose that because we were only changing out one wire at a time. I had a hard time finding that out however we decided to change all the wires and we got lucky with two working wires.

While we were were working on circuits I didn't understand how the charge was carried out differently. I was wondering why some times the batteries were both dimly lit and sometimes they were both brightly lit, and other times one was bright and the other one wasn't. A circuit is a closed loop of electricity which electricity travels through. Circuits are always closed and travel in a constant loop.

I would like to learn more about circuits and how it is applied in real life for example how outlets distribute electricity. I would also like to know if there are circuits in cars and if so then how do they work. I was wondering how some lights plug into outlets and the wires were only going in one direction.

TED Talks Schools

While I was watching this particular Ted talk I thought that is was very well thought out, and very well thought out. I enjoyed how passionate this man seemed about this issue. One thing that I didn't understand about this Ted talk is how did he get fully into this other than being a teacher.

The way that he perceives education is very interesting. I don't believe that they believe us to fully understand and comprehend everything in a certain amount of days I think that they expect us to comprehend and understand everything and they just want to prepare us for hire education opportunities such as collage and eventually our job.

I believe that the education system we have today is like a factory we all have different stages such as 1st grade and 7th grade. We begin our journey in the first part of the factory (1st grade) and the products get maid and is shipped off to college to polish us off and then we enter the real world which is the shelves on stores where we get sold off and we begin our jobs.

I think that he was very insightful and new everything about education and I agree to his theory of education to a certain degree however I think that the system is like a factory.

Experiment on inclines

During homework I did the graphing assignment. I was able to successfully graph all of the line segments withought any help. I enjoyed graphing and I thought that it was a fun experiment. I think that I chose to do the three easier graphs because I got them on my third or fourth try. I liked graphing like this because it shows you how correct you are and it shows what points your missing if you are missing any on the graph. I also liked how it incorporated the speed in the experiment. One thing that I was wondering about this website is weather there is more than one way to graph the correct graph.

I liked changing the launch speed and I thought that it incorporated things that we haven't really messed with. I was really trying hard and I was able to successfully calculate the distance. One problem that I had was finding the right speed. I could find the right graph however the speed always end seemed to be off.

KVIB field trip reflection

During today's field trip to KVIB we repaired the front bike wheel however I repaired my teams back tire. I repaired my teams back tire, I also took the front tire and began unscrewing the nut on the front tire. Than my group told me that they will do the front tire and told me to repair the back tire. I than went on to repairing the back wheel while my group did the front wheel. I was able to finish repairing it I also cleaned it up well and replaced the tire by unbending it. I was also able to accomplish the task of pumping up the tires.

During the field trip I thought that my group wasn't working together. My group member was also calling me names such as stupid. That one group member also kept telling me that I was doing a bad job at repairing the bike when the helpers at the bike shop were complementing me because of how hard I was working. I think that one of my group members and I aren't getting along. I hope that she will stop calling me names. I also hope that we can get along better. I enjoyed repairing the bike and think that it was a very fun and learnable moment.

Reflection on tool safety

On Wednesday their have been many tools that were explained. Our piers explained some of the tools uses, how to assemble, as well as the dangers. I understood the functions of all of the tools except for the electric sander. I didn't understand its importance with metal. I thought that the first day was all about welding however there is a tool maid specifically for sanding down wood. Another reason why I don't think this is helpful with welding is because the paper is very brittle and it spins fast so it can easily straighten and materialize the wood however it would damage its self and the metal if you were to place metal on the machine. I thought this machine was very interesting because of its unique functions there are also many different functions of this particular machine.

I have worked with most of the tools last year except her the more powerful tools such as the wood sander and the metal cuter. I enjoyed using all these before. I am glad that we learned about theirs tools because I was unfamiliar with all of the tools before. One concern that I have about every tool was about the inventory. Their Wasn't enough inventory for each group to have 1. I also learned that the drill is a lot more common than any of the other tools that I learned about today as well as used.

The tool that looks like like the easiest and most fun to use as well as the safest in my opinion would be the drill. I have a lot of practice with drills. I used then to build the gardening table as well as the hydroponics system. The Drill was a very popularly used tool in 9th grade for MPX9 and I think that all my classmates would agree with me about the drill being the most standard and common tool.

Stem dr.hines glossary

There have been any words that were added to our glossary for these past few weeks and I understand all of them however there are a few words which I have trouble differentiating such as distance and location because those two words seem really similar. Even thought there are a few words which I don't understand I do understand all of the bicycling terms however I do have a little trouble remembering all the terms for c in the abc quick check. I always call it chain however I forget the rest of the words that are associated with c.

The two words I have difficulty differentiating is position and distance. I understand that position is the location or where the object is located and the distance is associated with how far the object travels. I sometimes plug the wrong one into the equations to find slope and the current position of the cars when we were doing the cars experiment.

All of the by bike terms are very easy for me to understand because in 8th grade for my science fair project I tried to figure out what types of wheels on a bike will decrease the resistance and allow me to travel downhill faster with ought pedaling so I've worked with these terms before.

The three challenges

During this past week there were many challenges that I faced however there were three concepts that I didn't fully understand however I did have a good idea of what it was and how to do the practice problems and how to build the specific structure. The three things in stem that I struggled on this week was fully understanding the velocity time graphs because I didn't know where the line for the graph went for when the person was standing still and I thought that it was supposed to stand still but go a little lower. The second thing in steam that I struggled on was finding the center of gravity. The last problem that I found fairly challenging was finding a way to insert a way to insert something to adjust the shelfs.

The first problem that I faced was finding a way to find out how to graph the graph when the person is standing still. I didn't understand the graph when it's going back to its point of origin and why it goes and becomes a negative slope. However I was able to understand because on the night before I reviewed and re did the worksheet and better understand the graphing system.

During the dominoes activity I thought that I found the center of gravity and I attempted to stack the dominoes on top of what I thought was the center of gravity however I didn't take into account that when the dominoes expanded outward that the center of gravity changes.

The last problem that I faced was finding a way to be able to make adjustable shelves for the library and I thought of pegs but I figured that it would be a little bit heavy with a lot of books on the shelfs and so I thought of making a wheel system with tabs that secure the shelf in space however I don't know how I would install this system into the bookshelf.

i used to think and now i think repost

When we began the study on electricity I didn't really understand it and I had very little interest in it however over the study I learned how important it is to this island and that I should really care about electricity and how it is made

I used to think that there was an abundance of electricity and electricity was made from burning fossil fuels and it was created by the steam emoted from those fossil fuels such as coal. I also used to think this because when we went to h-power they talked about how they use the steam emitted from the burning trash to create electricity. I thought that they used coal and burned the coal and used the steam created by the coal to create electricity. After today I learned that they do not use coal they use a much more abundant source. They use water and they burn it then after they burn it and convert it to steam they use the steam and make electricity. I am glad that they use water however I still wonder what materials they use to burn the water. i read this directly through hecos website which was one of the links.

I used to think that HECO made energy similar to h power in the sense that they both burned items to create electricity h power burned trash while HECO burned coal I know know that HECO uses water and creates it into steam while h power burns trash. They are both similar because in order for water to turn into steam it needs heat. i also leaaened about different ways that heco creates electricity from allot of their sorces.

I used to think that HECO stood for Honolulu electric company however know I know that it stands for Hawaiian electric company one of the readings wrote out hawaiian electric company and i connected the dots.

I used to think that all the boxes that were scattered along campus had the same use, and by boxes i mean the green ones that hold electric breakers inside of them along with the grey covered ones. I used to think that they all had one use and purpose however know I know that they have many uses such as breakers and monetaring the solar energy that is created by each box.

We have recently taken a quiz during class to discover what type of people we are. There are four different types of classes that could have been chosen. The four classes were guardian who are the cornerstone of society (as said on kersey), they are born to serve and preserve our most important social institutions. Guardians are also said to have a natural talent in managing goods and services. Idealist who are interested in personal growth and are always attempting to gain self knowledge and self improvement and want to help others on those causalities as well. The third characteristic is artisan and an artisan is someone who accelerate in all types of arts. And the fourth characteristic is a rational. A rational is a person who solves many complex problems that deal with the world around us.

I was surprised to be an artisan because they are more centered around art and sports which I am not really centered around. I like to play sports however I am the worst artist. I do agree about the sports side because I do enjoy playing sports. I do agree because it said that I was a visual learner which I do agree with. I have noticed that I memorize things better by looking at them so I agree with my results. i liked being called an artisan because only 7% of people in this world are artisans. i also can relate to an artisans because they are people who blurt out things and speak without thinking and i do that a lot. there way of solving problems is mathematically based and that is 100% me.

The results from the other quiz said that I was more of a global learner which means that I don't focus on details however I disagree because in every math problem I focus on how I got the result rather than what the result is however other than that I agree with all my other results.

The three goal

I want to get an A+ in every class

i will accomplish by attempting to pick partners that will help me with the project instead of helping me and encouraging me to play games. i also want a partner that can keep me on track. i will also complete all my homework on time and do it very well.

I would like to win three matches for mid PAC tennis team

i will continue my training routine which includes 100 sit-ups a day and a five mile run on Monday and Friday. i will also continue my strength training with the medicine ball. i plan to play continue playing tennis for 15 hours on the weekends as well.

I would also like to learn how to play a new sport.

i have been stuck with only playing tennis and i want to play something else such as air riflery. i want to do air riflery in particular because i saw how much fun it looked and since I've shot a gun before many times i think that i could have potential in this sport. i would like to play a sport for the opportunity to gain an extra P.E. credit.

3 big takeways

during this week there were many important details and facts that i learned however these are the three facts that i thought were the most important details for this past week.

the thing that will stick with me most is that climate change is a very big deal. i thought that it was an issue however i never knew that it was that large of a deal. i thought that it would change the climate however i never thought that it was already taking affect and that the affect it is having is quite large. i never knew that the water is acidifying, or anything about the ice caps however know that i know what is happening i cant believe that it is. i was personally astonished at all the changes that were happening and i began to get scared for the after affect that is going to happen

the second takeaway from this week was the amount of carbon dioxide we are putting in the air and how we are disregarding the safety numberers that were put in place. i was amazed at how there was no mention of any large scale change happening. the politicians are all saying we have to do this and that but i really don't see them doing anything at all to help out the earths climate and that makes me fell sad. i am sad because of the greed that certain people have and because of that greed they don't want to help the planet they just want to get rich.

the third largest takeaway from this week is that the politicians all signed a contract as an agreement to keep the earths climate from rising two degrees however they don't have any comities that really check up on that and they don't seem to be all doing the same things to be limiting climate change.

Power plant reflection

Today we went on a field trip to Hawaiian electric and I learned many things and I got to see how our islands electricity gets made. I learned that it is made in many different ways from the ocean to wind and even through heat. I enjoyed watching it being made through heat because I could see the fire which burned at 3000 degrees Fahrenheit. It was very interesting to observe that.

Today at the power plant my groups leader gave us a tour and I was facenated at how many machines there was just to make electricity. I love enjoyed walking around all the machines. As I was walking inside of the steam building I was fascinated by the control room which had so many buttons and controls. The control room was also really quiet which I liked

The facility was huge and I liked walking through the and observing all the machines and learning about there purposes.

Global warming

Global warming

Global warming is caused by changing of temperature in the earths atmosphere. The atmosphere is being heated by infer red gasses that are sent from the sun and trapped in the earths atmosphere it is also called the green house affect. The green house affect traps in infer red into the earths atmosphere and that is the cause of the earth heating up. The co2 creates a larger and stronger ozone layer to trap more infer red in. Because of global climate change the ice caps are melting and this is causing a rise in the sea level it is also causing the earth to heat up. The green house effect is trading in infer red into the Suns atmosphere.

I used to think and I now know

Year end blog

During this whole year there were many learning experiences that range from cooking all the way too building a hydroponics system. In the beginning of the year I thought those tasks were impossible however towards the end I realized that they were both possible and fun. This blog is to reflect upon all the fun tasks that we have accomplished through the year.

My most favorite and memorable memory of this year would have to be the final cook off. I loved this event so much because of everything that we had worked for to accomplish our ultimate goal. I am glad of how this turned out and I am glad that we were able to win second place in the event. During the event I thought of everything that led up to it and it couldn't have turned out any better. I am glad it ended the way it did. It took a lot of practice to do.

Another thing that happened during this year that I enjoyed was building our system because that was the first time that we came together as a team and worked really hard and were able to build our system. I think that we came together during the building of the system because we all worked well together and we worked incredibly hard. We were able to finish our tower system fast compared to other groups because we were the second group to finish.

I also liked to work on the plant table because the plant table was the first time my group worked truly as a group and we all did a part. I also liked this because I love to build and it was incredible fun building all the components of the plant table. I am glad that I was able to build it. I also liked painting it with my group.

Those were my favorite three things that I did.

Mpi iron chef

During this whole year we paid many visits to KCC and we had too cook many dishes ranging from roasted vegetables to parmesan chicken and all the way to cous Cous. We learned how to cook a variety of different plates and I enjoyed cooking and learning all the different cuisines and protecting my polenta with pan seared chicken and roasted vegetables. I am sad that we have to now leave KCC and cook at home. I enjoyed all the time we spent cooking there

One of the 5 concepts that I believe I improved upon was collaboration. I think I improved in collaboration because in the beginning of the year we were just cooking on our own and in the end we were all cooking together. I am glad that we were all able to come together like that. I believe that I improved in this concept because I was the one who began asking and yelling out progress checks. I improved in collaboration because I learned how to talk to my class mates and tell them what they had to do and how they should do it.

The second of the 5 concepts that I improved upon included imagination because in the beginning of the year the plating of our plates was horrible we just had polenta on the side roses vegetables on top and the chicken was surrounding the plate going all the way around the plate. This was a horrible plate and I had to use my imagination to make it better so I stacked the food with the polenta in a round circle on the bottom.

The third concept I learned about was critical problem solving. I had to learn this concept because this concept was needed for example if we forgot something or burned something that we needed we had to problem solve.

While we were cooking our dish at Kapiolani community collage cooking facilities we worked really well together and we were able to finish our dish a bit earlier than other groups. As we were working we cooperated with each other through every step of the process and I believe that this is what made us such a good team.

Animation answers

How is Orwell’s Animal Farm an allegorical retelling of the end of feudalism and the rise and consolidation of communism in Russia? The humans are basically the communist party during the Russian Revolution and the fall of Mr. Jones represents the fall of important leaders in the communist parties.

How does Orwell parallel Czarist Russia and the life of the Russian peasantry in the characters and events of Animal Farm? The farmers starve the animals and it's kind of like the government putting food rations on the people or peasants.

What internal feud within the Communist party is paralleled in the struggle for power between Napoleon and Snowball? Napoleon represents Stalin and Snowball represents Trotsky because Napoleon wanted stricter rules on everyone.

During the Stalinist period the Communist State repeatedly set industrial and agricultural production goals that were often difficult or impossible to reach. These goals played a major role in the government’s Five Year Plan and similar plans. How are these plans represented in Orwell’s novella? These plans are represented by the building of the windmill and the constant failure to build the windmill.

How does Napoleon gradually begin to abuse his power? Why do the other animals of Manor Farm allow him to encroach upon their rights and freedoms? Napoleon begins to abuse his power by taking food from the animals and using it for himself and his close allies. Napoleon also created an army of dogs that would protect him and defend those who go against him. He started to rewrite the commandments.

How does Napoleon respond to criticism or resistance? Is there a parallel to his behavior in the history of Soviet Union? Napoleons behavior is parallel to Stalin because he wanted everything to go his way. Napoleon responded to criticism by intimidating and used the dogs to kill the sheep.

In the last paragraphs of the novella Napoleon, amongst the other human farmers, is heard to give a toast to the prosperity of Manor Farm. Contained within this scene is the irony that makes Napoleon’s behavior so ghastly. Describe the irony inherent in Napoleon’s behavior, and explain how it corresponds to the behavior of the party elite in the Soviet Union. The irony in napoleons behavior is ghastly because he said he would never partner with humans and was seen shaking hands and talking with the humans.

Work blog 25

During today's workday I didn't do that much work because there wasn't that much to do. I tried to do as much as possible so I took care of the system. Taking care of the system was easy because liam and dane did the pH and tds and I harvested and tied up all the tomatoes plants. Those tasks were easy to do because I've tied up and harvested the tomatoes so many times. I also had to print two copies of my recipe packet which I failed to do because I only printed it one copy of the paper the first time so I needed to go back and print more. Today was a very easy day because we watched documentaries for the rest of the day. I liked most of them however some of them were bad and looked incomplete.

My group worked well today and we accomplished the work that we needed to very fast. I liked our group a show well we worked together.

During today's work day I didn't do as much work as I always do however I did work. I helped liam a s much as I could on the documentary by taking a few videos, as well as making voice overs. I enjoyed doing this because this task isn't too easy or too hard. This task is also enjoyable because of the fact that we all work together and work to complete a common goal however this task was incredible stress full because we learned that our documentary had to be 5:30 and lower and ours was originally 8 minutes so we had to scramble and take certain things off our documentary. I also took care of our system which means that I had to pull out dead tomato plants as well as harvest the ripe tomatoes. I enjoyed this task because it was very easy. I also did the poster which was hard because I'm not that good of an artist however I finished the poster. I also finished the shopping list for our cook of

My group worked really well together and we got a lot done even though Nari wasn't here today.

Work blog 23

On the twenty third work day of this quarter I worked on our system (like I do every single joint period), and getting interviewed. Working on the system required the same treatment as always which is getting Easier and Easier as time goes by because today I was Abel to finish taking care of the system in 5 minutes which isn't that long. I enjoyed working on the system however It fells kind of like a bother now because it's all the same. However I also enjoyed working on the voice overs even though liam was yelling at me when I messed up. I enjoyed working on that because it's new and different. It's not a routine task that I do every day. I was also asked questions during the interview which I enjoyed the most because we have to talk during the interview and I like to talk.

During today's work day dane, liam, Nari, and I worked really hard today and we finished working on the posters.

During today's work day I did a lot of work. I helped liam a lot on the documentary. I took a few videos, interviewed a few people, as well as making voice overs. I enjoyed doing this because this task isn't too easy or too hard. This task is also enjoyable because of the fact that we all work together and work to complete a common goal. I also fixed our system which means that I had to pull out dead tomato plants as well as harvest the ripe tomatoes. I enjoyed this task because it was very easy day. I enjoyed working inside the noise canceling station to record our voice overs. That room was the coolest place on campus in my opinion.

I think that my team worked well together even though Nari disappeared for an hour and was nowhere to be seen.

Work blog 21

During today's work day I did a lot of work. I Was able to complete the reflection which was a pain in my opinion. I think that it was a pain because we had to point out our mistakes yet age like what we ha even doing for the past few days. Overall I think that this was a fairly easy task to complete because the teachers and chef practically told us what to write. Another task that i completed today was taking care of our system. Taking care of our system is the easiest thing now because of the sheer amounts of times I took care of our system. I also did some filming and I got filmed today which was easy. Today was a very easy and fun day and it was kind of easy.

Research paper topics

One topic that interested me is World War One and how that led to the shifting of power during that time. This led to it because Russia was weak after all the fighting and they felt that this was the best time to strike. This began the revolutions of 1917-1923

Another topic that interested me is the revolutions of 1917-1923. The revolutions formed a revolutionary wave which many people and places were affected this was part of by the end of World War I and the Russian Revolutions of 1917 in particular.
